Preparing for Winter Weather
Maryland weather is hard to understand! Thank you for having your child dressed appropriately each day so that they can go outside for recess.
If there are any weather-related delays or closings, you can hear about them a variety of ways:  If you subscribe to HCPSS News you will automatically be alerted with a message via email or text; most local television stations announce delays or closings by 5:30 a.m.; and HCPSS Channel 95 on Comcast also provides the latest information.  To join HCPSS News please log onto https://www.hcpssnews.com/user/userdefault.aspx

Point Of Sale
The new Point of Sale (POS) system will be used starting Thursday, November 7, in the cafeteria. All families should have received their letter from the school system sharing each student’s six-digit code that will be used in the cafeteria. Pin numbers will be used by students in the cafeteria line when buying breakfast, lunch, milk or a la carte items. Money can be placed on the card, either electronically or with cash, in advance so students do not have carry cash to school each day.  If your child is buying lunch this week or in the future, please take some time to review the pin numbers with him/her.  Cafeteria staff will have access to this information and will assist as we transition to this new system.  As always, it is extremely helpful to assure students are prepared to get a school meal or are sent with a lunch each day so that students can be fed in a timely manner.
This new system will increase the challenge of loaning students money to purchase a lunch should they not any for that day. Additionally, Para-educators will no longer be able to hold onto money for students.
