ph_school0.jpgTime for another great year at Gorman Crossing!

Student Absences

This year, in addition to monitoring student attendance, schools are being asked to collect more information about student illness.  As part of the Health Department's tracking of Influenza Like Illness in Howard County, schools are required to report numbers  of student illness and symptoms.  Only the number of students and the symptoms are being reported, not names or personal information.

If your child is absent from school because of illness, please contact us on the first day of the absence and provide the following information:

*Your child's name
*The date
*Symptoms of Influenza Like illness: i.e. fever greater than 100 Degrees F, Cough and Sore Throat

You may Contact the school using one of the following options:
Call the front office at: 410-880-5900
Email our new Absence Conference at: gcesabsence@hcpss.org
*only a designated school office staff member will have access to your emails.

And as always, please keep any child with a fever home until they have been fever free for 24 hours without any medicinal aids.

Canned Food Drive!
111209_94911_0.pct

Along with our Turkey Trot run (November 19th), we will be collecting canned foods for the Thanksgiving season.  Last year we collected over 2,300 canned goods as a school!  Hopefully we can get more this year!  Food donations can be brought in from now until November 24th.  Collection boxes will be placed in each team for storage until pick up.  Examples of what can be donated:  canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned soup, Ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese, etc.  Examples of what not to bring in: food that has to be refrigerated or put in the freezer, anything in glass or jars, or food that can easily rot (i.e. bread, fresh fruits and vegetables).  The food that is donated will go to L.A.R.S. (Laurel Advocacy Referral Services) to support a great cause.  We can’t accept food any later than November 24th (due to pick up during the Thanksgiving break).  Thank you for your donations and support!!!
