ph_school0.jpgTime for another great year at Gorman Crossing!

Student Absences

This year, in addition to monitoring student attendance, schools are being asked to collect more information about student illness.  As part of the Health Department's tracking of Influenza Like Illness in Howard County, schools are required to report numbers  of student illness and symptoms.  Only the number of students and the symptoms are being reported, not names or personal information.

If your child is absent from school because of illness, please contact us on the first day of the absence and provide the following information:

*Your child's name
*The date
*Symptoms of Influenza Like illness: i.e. fever greater than 100 Degrees F, Cough and Sore Throat

You may Contact the school using one of the following options:
Call the front office at: 410-880-5900
Email our new Absence Conference at: gcesabsence@hcpss.org
*only a designated school office staff member will have access to your emails.

And as always, please keep any child with a fever home until they have been fever free for 24 hours without any medicinal aids.

Gorman Crossing Sneaker Drive!
converse_sneakers.jpg

Have old sneakers just sitting around and don’t wear them?  Well we have the answer!  During the entire month of September the Physical Education department will be collecting old or unused sneakers for donation to Reuse-A-Shoe from Nike.  Nike will recycle the shoes to help make playground surfaces across the world to help kids become more physically active!  There will be a drop off box located in the school, as well as at our Gorman Crossing 5K run on September 12th.  The sneakers don’t need to be Nike brand, just any sneakers that are gently used will do!  Thanks for your support
